Economic and technological development Zones

China is being counted among the world's largest economies as it has turned up to be major economic power over the last two decades. China's progress in the sphere of international trade started as it opened up its economy for foreign investments. China with its prime focus vested upon the policy of foreign trade has been reaping huge benefits. During the early 1980s China decided to establish about 14 economic and technological development zones (ETDZ). Previously China had got huge benefits from the special economic zones that had influenced the country to establish the economic and technological development zones.

Between 1992 and 1993, 18 more economic and technological development zones have been established in the various cities of the country. The economic and technological development zones have helped in the effective proliferation of trade and commercial activities through them. A number of economic and technological development zones have also come up between the year 2001 and 2002. One thing has to be noted that China definitely had received huge economic gains through these economic and technological development zones as even after its inclusion into the World Trade Organization (WTO) it continued with the process of establishing the zones.

Significant amount of capital investments have been attracted through the economic and technological development zones in China. The Chinese cities such as the likes of Beijing, Hangzhou, Shenyang, Nanning, Gunyang, Xining, Urumchi and many more have been benefited tremendously by the economic and technological development zones. A great number of people in the cities have got employment opportunities in the economic and technological development zones and thus the level of personal income of the mass has also rose substantially. The economic and technological development zones have also helped in the promotion of the regional economy.

Economic and technological development zones have ensured that the balance between the regional economy and the industry interface remains intact. The economic and technological development zones have played a commendable role in increasing the process of development in the regional economical conditions. Most of the economic zones have turned up to be the premier hubs of export oriented business. Foreign investments have been coming at a very fast pace after the establishment of the numerous economic and technological development zones from various nations of the world.

Some of the economic and technological development zones in China are now being regarded as the premier hubs from where export oriented trade is facilitated. Exports from China has touched record level after the establishment of these economic and technological development zones. A number of these zones are provided with the facilities necessary to develop hi tech products for the domestic as well as foreign markets. The role of the trade zones in the economical transformation of China from a socialist economy to a mixed economy having prime focus on international trade thus remains quite significant.
